Sideways Revolution
(1977-1987)
Snowboarding is banned, called a fad. Winter’s “Worst new sport.” Jake Burton Carpenter builds boards in a barn and sells them out of his car, hiking for turns while fighting for the right to slide sideways. The obsession spreads one rider at a time.

LISTEN TO THE RIDERS
(1987-1997)
Snowboarding’s teenage rebellion and an explosion of culture and expression. Corporations try to buy in, but Burton stays independent and navigates the chaos with a single ethos: listen to the riders.
ALL THE WAY UP
(1997-2007)
The 2000s turned all the way up. Riders progress to new heights while Burton pushes what’s possible through innovation, purpose, and women in leadership. Snowboarding becomes limitless.
NO PERMISSION NEEDED
(2008-2017)
It’s a new era for women in snowboarding. Burton backs it with equal pay, products designed by women for women, and a lineage of badasses pushing the vision forward. It’s our future, and we define it.

(2018-2027)
The best version of snowboarding hasn't been built yet. Fifty years of listening to riders brought us here. The next generation will take it somewhere no one can predict.
